At the visitor center, watch ships navigate through the locks from viewing platforms, explore museum exhibits about the canal’s history and construction, and enjoy a short film about its importance and impact. There’s also a restaurant with views of the locks, where you can relax and take in the sights.

Wear light, comfortable clothing, as it can be warm outdoors on the viewing platforms. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking through exhibits. Bring a hat or sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera to capture the canal operations and views of the passing ships.

  • Buses to Paraíso or Gamboa from the Albrook Bus Terminal will drop you off along the highway, an around 15-minute signposted walk to the locks. Alternatively, taxis are easy to find and will often agree on a round-trip price, depending on how long you want to spend at the locks.
