Punta Culebra Nature Center

Punta Culebra Nature Center is a small open-air museum operated by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. This unique center focuses on marine and terrestrial ecosystems, offering visitors a close look at local flora, fauna, and marine life. It’s a great spot to observe sloths, iguanas, starfish, and other fascinating creatures, as well as to explore tidal pools and view the vibrant Pacific and Caribbean reefs in touch tanks.

For your visit to Punta Culebra, wear light, breathable clothing and comfortable walking shoes or sandals, as you’ll be outdoors in warm, tropical weather. A hat and sunglasses are recommended to shield yourself from the sun. Bring sunscreen, a water bottle to stay hydrated, and a camera to capture the wildlife!

Punta Culebra Nature Center currently receives visits only on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Total closure of the center at 5:00 PM.

Located approximately 3.5 kilometers from the entrance to the Amador Causeway. Turn right on the main road at the Mi Ranchito restaurant and continue to the end of the parking lot to find the entrance to Punta Culebra Nature Center.
